Olympic Cellars Makes Puget Sound Business Journal
List of Top 78 Corporate Philanthropists
New Expanded List Honors Companies of All Sizes in Greater Puget Sound Area
Port Angeles, Wash., May 15, 2009 – The Puget Sound Business Journal has named Olympic Cellars to its 2009 List of Top Corporate Philanthropists in an expanded Corporate Citizenship Program that recognizes companies of all sizes for their staunch support of philanthropic causes and organizations. Companies were placed in one of three categories, large, medium or small, determined by total revenue, and then ranked within each category according to total giving in the state of Washington. Olympic Cellars is ranked number 20 out of 25 businesses on the small companies list, with $6,613.00 cash and $4,990.00 in-kind donated in 2008.
“It’s an honor to be recognized for our philanthropic efforts,” says Kathy Charlton, owner, Olympic Cellars. “Giving back is ingrained in our overall business philosophy, and we look forward to continuing our support for women and families in the future.”
“I am also very impressed with another aspect of the Business Journal’s expanded Corporate Citizenship program,” continues Charlton. “The new Healthy Communities Corporate Champion Awards program identifies five components of a healthy community – Arts & Culture, Basic Needs, Economic Vitality, Education, Environment, Health & Wellness and Neighborhoods and Communities – and honors companies that champion the various components. It’s my hope that Port Angeles will one day honor local businesses in the same way for their contributions to a healthy, revitalized community.”
Olympic Cellars supported the following organizations with cash and in-kind donations in 2008: Gynocare Fund, Family Planning Clinic of Clallam County; Healthy Families Domestic Violence Prevention Program; Clallam County Youth Suicide Prevention Program; Volunteers in Medicine of the Olympics; Northwest Passages, “Inspiring Women & Girls;” YWCA Dress for Success; OlyCap Working Image; Peninsula College Basic Skills Program and G.I.R.L.S. Camps; Friends of the Fields; North Olympic Land Trust; Olympic Music Festival, and others.
The winery’s total charitable giving since the September 2003 release of its Working Girl® series of wines is now in excess of $60,300.00. Olympic Cellars is included in the Puget Sound Business Journal’s annual special supplement, “Corporate Citizenship: The Business of Giving,” which published on May 8.
