Joy’s Wine Bistro
first met Joy Siemion and her mother, Barbara Gooding, at a Sequim wine tasting event in June 2005. Joy mentioned she and her mother were buying a restaurant and Joy was moving to Port Angeles from New York.

I remembered thinking then they had a big job ahead of them… a complete remodel of the restaurant, a move across country, not to mention owning one’s first business.
Our paths didn’t cross for a few months until my husband and I walked into her colorful and cozy bistro. The decor had such flair that I couldn’t wait to try the food and I wasn’t disappointed. Scrumptious and everything made from scratch, even the hamburger buns for the lunch menu. I love salad and seafood and both were sooo fresh, perfectly seasoned and delicious. And then dessert, ahhh!
Joy’s first great job was at Tulio where she cooked and trained for 6 years under Chef Walter Pisano. Tulio is the marvelous Italian Restaurant at Hotel Vintage Park in Seattle, known as the ‘wine hotel’ of the Pacific Northwest. (Our favorite, since room 802 is dedicated to Olympic Cellars.) Joy was then wisked away to New York where she had the opportunity to work with celebrity chef, Rocco DiSpirito of Union Pacific Restaurant.
But home called… born and raised in Woodinville, Joy moved back after 4 years of the New York restaurant scene and opened her first restaurant in Port Angles on August 13, 2005.
